Yes, it's true...we are sick again with RSV! Starting Friday afternoon, Cal started running a little fever then it just steadily for higher and higher. By like 7 that night, it was 103. We did more Tylenol and a bath and that helped. He slept ok, but the fever was still nagging at him. Saturday morning it wasn't too high, but still there so I went ahead and made an appt at the after hours clinic, and in the meantime he temp got up to 104. I was freaking out! Brad was working a basketball tournament, so I immediately called him then threw Cal in the tub. He was just shivering and crying so bad, but I knew I had to get his temp down. It was awful for both of us. By the time we got dressed and Brad got home, we loaded up to go to the doc.
They did an RSV and Strep test and both were negative. Doc said his throat and tonsils were really red and swollen. He had a terrible cough and runny nose. All that combined with the high fever, the doc said he thought it could be silent pneumonia and that's how he would treat it, but wanted us to do a follow up with our regular pediatrician on Monday. So we started back on breathing treatments and some other antibiotic. The antibiotic had to be taken with food and Cal wasn't eating...anything! What we did get him to eat on Sunday morning, he threw all back up when trying to take that medicine! :( Then he didn't eat anything the rest of the day. And ran fever all day and night...averaged around 102. First thing Monday morning, I called and made an appt at our regular clinic. He did eat some oatmeal and took his medicine better, but that was all he would eat. Our appt was a like 3:45 and he hadn't eaten anything.
So we go to our appt today and when the doc walked into the room, his first words were "Wow he sounds terrible with that wheezing!" So did another RSV test and CBC...and the RSV was back. Doc said it usually take like 10 min for the test to complete, but it was so predominant, that Cal's finished in like 3! I was really surprised they didn't put him in the hospital. But they didn't...just said to keep on with the breathing treatments and put him on a different antibiotic. And to, of course, let them know if he didn't get any better.
He is out of day care for sure Tuesday and Wednesday and if by Wed night he's been fever-free for 24 hours, he can go back on Thursday. With the past few days we've had, I'll be surprised if he's 224 hour fever-free by Wednesday. But I sure hope and pray so! Because when he can't go to daycare, I can't go to work!
So, again, please say a prayer for him and that he can overcome this RSV and get back to a normal life!
Thanks guys!!

The first time Ali Grace ran a 104.5 temp, I thought my eyes were just not reading the thermometer correctly. My heart sank and of course I was home alone too. Praying for that sweet baby boy and for Mama. It's tough on both when you have a sick child.
Girl we are praying hang in there, it will get better!!!
