A new addition...

If you are thinking baby, you are WRONG! Hahaha! :) Sorry, couldn't resist.

No, we are in the process of extending our patio in the backyard! Yay! We have been talking about this ever since last summer...well, since we moved in really. It's a nice size backyard, but the patio was just small. Even the previous owners said if they had stayed another year, they would have done it.

To start this project, the backyard had to be re-leveled and sloped away from the house (if that makes sense!). When it would rain, the water would pool up around the patio that was there, which meant right up around the house. Seriously, when all that rain came New Year's Eve, we thought water was about to come in the back door! Brad had to get out there and dig a ditch the next time it rained that much. Sooooo.....we got that done and the got the dirt all tilled (sp??) up so they could proceed.

But to move all that dirt and level it out, they had to removed a part of the fence so they could push that dirt into the woods...but that won't be a problem to get back together. Anyways...

We have a design in mind, but are still debating on the little things, ya know. But with all the rain, we've had some extra time to really think about the shape and such. But hopefully after this rain tomorrow, we'll be good to go and they can come set the form! We hope to be done with it by the time we go back to school from Spring Break! WooHoo!

Anyways...the point of this post was to tell you about how Cal likes to eat DIRT! Yes, DIRT! We were in the back yard drawing out shape designs with the guy in charge (this was the day they tilled it all up) and Cal was just having a big ole time playing in the dirt. I guess we'll have to get him a sandbox this summer. Well, next thing we knew, he was shoveling dirt clods in his MOUTH! And he liked...no, loved it! He just kept on and kept on eating it! (Now you are probably thinking, gah, couldn't you get him to stop!). Well, in between laughing and taking pictures, I really did try. But there was no stopping him. He literally had mud coming from his mouth from where this dirt had mixed with his saliva! So gross I know! I just kept telling myself, God made dirt and dirt wont hurt! Haha!

Excuse the low quality photos....I took them with my phone.
Showing me the swing set he wanted! Ha! This was before the dirt eating. And btw, swing sets are SO EXPENSIVE! I had no idea!

Checking it out.
Mmmmm
I like the dirt!
