School finally ended and I was SOOOO glad. We were in desperate need for a break! Summer has been amazing so far. Cal is WIPE open! He wants to play outside all the time, but it's been so hot that we've been inside more than outside. Plus he's had bronchitis. But we have been to the pool a few times and Cal is not to sure about that. He likes the bath tub and getting sprayed with the water hose, but the pool was a different story. I want to take him a few more times so hopefully he'll be ok with it when we go to the beach is a few weeks! Yay!
Back to Cal.....he is talking up a storm. I've never seen anything like it. It's so funny because he tries to say everything we say and answering questions when we ask him. His fine motor skills are getting better each day. It's so much fun to watch him learn and play. He has a big picture/word book that we look at everyday and name the things/make the sounds! He loves it! He also loves doing the Itsy Bitsy Spider! It's a hoot! But he is definitely ALL BOY. He gets into everything and I swear the child is not scared of anything. And he's a climber. I feel like I am constantly saying "No, no". He's entering the "Terrible Two's" for sure and I know I've got to be more consistent. He's only been to daycare like 1 full day since we've been out of school and I am going to start taking him 2 days a week. He needs to stay in that routine and he needs that interaction with his little friends in his class. And hopefully that will help with some of his wildness! Ha! He still LOVES him some Mickey Mouse! He wakes up every morning and that is the first thing out of his mouth! But he also really likes Toy Story and Cars. So at least I get some kind of a break from "Mick Mou".
Cal helping Daddy
We finally saw the Pediatric Endocrinologist this past week. She was great. She did say that it could really be his thyroid, or he could simply be a small person, on the bottom of the growth chart until puberty. The only way to test and know for sure if Cal had Hypothyroidism was to take him off his medicine for 3-4 months and test then again. But she didn't want to do that because if it really is a thyroid problem and he was off medicine for that long, that it could affect brain and mental development! She said that the thyroid levels are very crucial in the first 3-4 years of life, and that if they were slightly off, it could be really bad. So...we are going to keep him on this medicine and keep rechecking his levels every 4-6 months. They drew blood that day (NO FUN) and also did a bone age xray of his hands to see where he measures against other children his age. I can tell that he has grown some, but he is still sooo small. He was in between the 5th and 10th% for height but he wasn't even on the curve for his weight! :( She's wasn't as concerned with his height because he was still on the curve, but the weight had her attention. She did tell us to only give him 4 ounces of juice a day and to really increase his milk intake. I'm also giving him one thing of pedisure a day. He's not a big time picky eater, but he's not a great eater either. He'll sometimes chew his food and then spit it out instead of swallowing! Strange, huh? Another reason for his poor eating habits (we just discovered) is his tonsils! They are ENORMOUS! We went for his tubes checkup at the ENT about a month ago, and when the doc looked down his throat, his reaction was "Holy Cow!" Literally! He said that! Ha! Then his called his nurse and the student doctor over there to look. It was a similar reaction from both. He asked if I saw them, and I said no (I was holding Cal down!), and he said it's a good thing because they would have freaked you out! He said it's not a matter of if they are coming out, but when! He wants to wait until he's 2, but then told us to move him in the room with us at night so we can make sure he's not gasping for air or struggling to breath when he's asleep!! Cause if he was, they would take them out immediately! So we did, and he's not having any trouble breathing at night, other than snoring. I reported this info back to the ENT, and he said to keep watching him and let him know and that we would probably do something in the fall. And I did finally see them the other day, and I wanted to call the ENT right then and there and schedule the surgery! Ha!
So....that's an update on the Cal man! And I know all that sounds awful, but he really is a trooper and just plays and plays!
OH! At the end of April, Brad and I ran a Half-Marathon! WooHoo!!! It was hard for sure, but we did great for our first big race. I was so proud of both of us!
And we finally got our back yard [almost] finished! Ha! All we need is a little sod.
But other than that, it's done!

But other than that, it's done!
Ok, so that's about it for the Petersons! We're just living life and enjoying summer!
Hope you are too!!
